The key to supporting production

The importance of keeping an organisation’s systems running 24x7 cannot be underestimated, just ask any current TSB customer their thoughts on the matter and I’m sure you will get a emphatic response.  In this digital age customers now demand an uninterrupted service. Therefore, regardless of whether your organisation is fully automated and practices DevOps or you have a Production Support team who are tasked with resolving issues that arise in its workflow, automation tools are highly critical.

Tools like Autosys by CA and Control M by BMC are popular schedulers used in the financial industry. They have been around for a very long time and can handle the most complicated of automated workflows as well as providing detailed performance analytics. However, what they do not do is provide any meaningful linking to help an engineer, charged with supporting production, resolve issues or the ability to see an audit trail of what has changed over time.

Solidatus’ advanced metadata management enables users to add an unlimited amount of additional metadata to the workload automation models creating a richness not possible previously. Recording and displaying details like business owner, criticality of job, last failure, previous resolutions and direct links to support knowledge bases for quicker issue resolution.

Whether it is highlighting all of the jobs that are regulatory-critical or helping to identify redundant processes, Solidatus’ display rules allow users to graphically enrich their models based off their standard out of the box values, as well as the additional Solidatus-enabled metadata.

Advanced search and filtering can be applied to this additional metadata allowing users to quickly identify and focus on the issue at hand. The additional metadata, display rules and advanced filtering provide engineers with a far greater understanding of the batches that they are supporting. For example, the ability to identify a minimum viable product batch saves CPU cycles, data storage, support costs as well as increasing uptime and reducing risk or to find a path to quicker issue resolution.

Solidatus’ audit trail tracks what changes have been made to what model, when, why and by who.  Visual model diff’ing allows organisations to see what their process looked like at any point in time and what changed between modifications. This all simplifies the internal and external audit and regulatory processes.

Solidatus’ modern browser-based visualiser allows viewing and editing of all the major (Workload Automation / Process Control) formats and provides a far richer viewing experience to standard built in process control viewers. It is highly scalable, easily handling more than 250k jobs in a single model while remaining performant.

Large organisations often have several (Workload Automation / process control systems), Solidatus provides a centralised, audited repository, allowing for holistic insight into batch contents, greater control, reduced risk, reduced redundancy as well as generating costs savings. The custom import and export functionality supports all the major (Workload Automation / Process Control) formats.
